BUILDING TOWARDS KATHY’S CENTENARY

on Heritage Day, 24 September 2026, the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation launched a programme of activities leading to the centenary of Ahmed Kathrada’s birth in 2029. Neeshan Balton outlined plans to celebrate Kathy’s life and values, while speakers highlighted several initiatives and other heritage projects. Mac Maharaj reflected on Kathy’s enduring hope and positivity, even during the bleakest times. Importantly, the centenery programme is not intended to belong to the Foundation alone. The Foundation is calling on the public, communities and organisations to submit ideas and propose activities, helping to shape and take ownership of the centenary programme.
